The Island of Goeree-Overflakkee has always been a well-known destination for water sports enthusiasts but also for hikers and cyclists. The attractions of this region are a wonderful combination of nature and culture. Visit the long coastline and feel the fresh wind in your face or experience the upbeat cosmopolitan atmosphere of cities like Rotterdam and The Hague. Beach life in South Holland and Zeeland is pure fun in the sun and a boating holiday is an increasingly popular way to spend the best time of year. Cultural attractions are concentrated in the cities but you will find romantic fishing towns preserving the flavor of the old times.
Het Zeepaardje (the Seahorse) is a semi detached villa on a new residential area called "Buitenplaats Nieuw Zeeland" in the district town of Middelharnis located directly on the Haringvliet. Middelharnis is the most important town on the island of Goerree-Overflakkee. The marina and the sandy beach with sunbathing area are situated right next to this holiday complex. The park itself offers a few facilities; there is a playground and a jeu de boules, a tennis court, swimming pool and bike rental within 2 km distance.
Cozy shops, several cafes and restaurants welcome visitors in the historic center of the town. There are also many opportunities to follow courses and workshops where you can learn painting, drawing, singing and much more. A number of events are organized annually in the town: in April the geranium market and open museum days, hiking weekend in June, Middelharnis ports day in September, Heritage Day and Middelharnis fair - five Fridays during the summer season.
